Scenario 2 - Oliver the History Teacher

Scenario 2 - Oliver The History Teacher

It’s the end of the week, Oliver can finally relax and enjoy the weekend with family and friends. Earlier this week, Jimmy, a friend of Oliver called and wanted Oliver and his daughter (Emma) to spend some time with him and his daughter (Elaine). While going through his wallet, Oliver finds his Fotografiska membership card and sees this as an opportunity for him to encourage Emma to explore her observational skills. He also wants her to learn how to analyze photographs and try to create own opinions of them. He and his wife Regina has spoken about it, to somehow merge calmness with Elaines high energy levels. He calls Jimmy and explains how this situation will also benefit him and his daughter. They agreed to meet at the entrance on Sunday around 2:00 pm after lunch.

Sunday morning, Oliver wakes up excited and wants his daughter to start the day off by being excited as well, so he made her chocolate-chip pancakes for breakfast. “Yay, you made my favourite breakfast, I love you daddy!” says Elaine when she wakes up. Oliver pats himself on the back for finally making use of his college degree in Applied social Sciences and Philosophy in real life. 3 years well spent. He further tells her while she’s eating that they’ll go to Fotografiska museum today. Emmas smile is slowly concaving down, and she replies with “Ok” without even looking at Oliver. “But hey, your friend Elaine will join us!”. Suddenly, she pays more attention and starts jumping up and down, full of excitement.

When the two families finally meet at the entrance of the museum on Sunday, the visit starts with a pleasant attitude from both parents and daughters. Oliver thought of a way to make this experience somewhat enjoyable for the girls. He and Jimmy gave the girls their tablets and told them to take pictures of any interesting photograph they find and then to come back and draw some cool mustache on it. The girls got excited, rushed to whatever photograph they liked and then came back. While explaining to their parent what photograph they chose, Oliver and Jimmy started commenting and asking the girls of their opinions and so on. The girls didn’t make that much of a noise since they were partially focused on drawing a mustache on the picture itself. The only problem the parents faced were that the girls had to run back and forth, causing some disturbance to other people at the museum.

All in all, the trip was good for both ends, the daughters were entertained and did explore their skills while the parents got a chance to socialize with each other as well. The main problem, other than the disturbance of the kids, was that this whole experience was too much of an effort for Oliver and Jamie. If it only existed an easier solution available at the museum to handle this...
